How to force yourself to do stuff that matters

Earlier, I’ve talked about the power of deciding the 3 most important things to do at the start of every day. Of all the crazy GTD style things that I’ve done, I believe it’s the single most powerful thing you can adopt, and it’s super-super-super simple. And effective.

Recently I’ve found a new use for that 3-things-list.

Have you ever had problems motivating yourself to go to the gym? Or are you struggling to keeping in touch with your friends because you’re so busy at work? Whatever your suckness is, the list can help you change that.

It’s simple. Of the 3 tasks, make one the thing you know is important but you never do. “Go to the gym.” “Call a friend.” And so on, and so forth. And then when you’re done with it, feel the rush of checking the item of your list, knowing that you’re finally doing what is good for you and still feeling productive!
