Ron Feldman sent me a link to this old post by Marc Andreessen, recently re-posted by the Pmarca Archies.
It’s really good! And not to brag, but I already do a lot of the stuff he talks about, like keeping all my tasks in one place, deciding the 3 tasks to get done for the day, checking email twice a day, etc, etc. However, the one thing I would absolutely like to try is his idea about “no schedule.” Just do whatever is most important at any given time, and don’t tie your most valuable asset down by some other people’s needs in the future.
I can’t imagine myself being able to do that today, but I work with people who seem to do this, and I envy their setup. Perhaps one or two meetings per week, but otherwise just work on things that matter. Beautiful!
I need to find a way to be able to have no fixed schedule.
